Argan Life

The designer was commissioned to develop sustainable packaging for a mixed range of hair and skincare products. The project challenge was to use one size of packaging for three different-sized products. This required some clever internal cardboard engineering to support the products inside the single-size tube. The cardboard tubes were printed offset with black plus two spot colors, a spot UV varnish, and all over satin aqueous varnish. The lid labels were printed in two colors on a self-adhesive stock.

Changbai Snow

Changbai Snow is a packaging design for bottled natural spring water sourced from the forests of Changbai Mountain in northeast China. The label is printed on both sides of the bottle. The front carries a hollowed-out image of protected animals from the water source area, and the back carries a photograph of the snowy mountain landscape. The water inside the bottle acts as a lens and enlarges the rear image. Turning the bottle creates a parallax effect that makes the scene appear to move. The top of the bottle is cut in a mountain shape with ice crystal patterns.

Jelly Fresh

Jelly Fresh is a packaging concept for a line of powder seasonings made for the preparation of fish. The design is inspired by the figure of the newspaper boy and recalls the old habit of wrapping fresh fish in paper. A photograph of the newspaper boy is combined with typography, layout and graphic elements to create a link with the consumer. The range includes three flavors and two package formats, so the seasonings are easy to use in the kitchen. A modern and clean layout with a distinct color palette helps the cans stand out on the shelf.

Abstract lines and geometric characters form the patterns. Box sizes vary with the incense inside. The design aims to renew a traditional industry and share Taiwanese auspicious culture with younger people.

The selected paper is thick and has a craft-like texture. Only foil stamping is applied, in one position and one size, which removes the color proofing stage and keeps costs low. The range includes product boxes, gift boxes and shopping bags.
